When is oral surgery needed?

Oral surgery is often required for conditions that are beyond the scope of general dental procedures. It is essential for solving problems such as pain from impacted wisdom teeth, removing severely fractured or decayed teeth and preparing your mouth for further restorative treatments, such as dental implants.

At Wellington Dental Practice, our approach ensures that every procedure is carried out with the utmost precision, aiming for a successful and lasting outcome. We’re here to help.

What does the oral surgery process involve?

We begin all oral surgery treatments with a detailed consultation. We examine your mouth, discuss your case and may take digital x-rays or scans to help us accurately plan your treatment.

On the day of your surgery, we make sure you are feeling calm before numbing the affected area with local anaesthetic. You will remain comfortable during treatment, feeling some pressure but no pain. We carry out the appropriate surgical procedure for your case.

Following your treatment, we give you detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery. We may check you have someone to accompany you home, especially if sedation has been used.
